Susan
Griesdale is a Composer, Piano Teacher, Clinician and
Visual Artist. She earned her ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music in
Toronto and studied Composition and Theory with Composer
Michael J. Rudman. She has been teaching
piano for fourteen years and has been writing music for grade level students for
the past eighteen years.
Her music is becoming extremely popular with teachers for recitals and festivals. It has been described as “imaginative and delightful!” with contemporary sounds that manage to remain accessible to all students. Sometimes the sounds of today’s music can be a challenge. With her love for contemporary music, it is her goal to create a body of music that students love to play. The music is tonal but the dissonance gently re-directs the ear away from traditional harmony.
The move away from traditional harmony is a
fascinating journey and once the student’s interest is peaked a whole new world
of sounds can be discovered. This journey of discovery is very exciting and
extremely rewarding. Susan’s compositions are designed to encourage the student
to start that journey.
