Barb Vant Erve
Barb Vant
Erve, a native of Fenelon Falls Ontario, has been actively involved in
music most of her life. She successfully completed Grade VIII Piano at the age
of 13 and then went on to play organ, flute, and trombone through high school
years. Attending the University of Western Ontario and then the University of
Victoria in B.C., she graduated with an Honours B. Mus. Degree in performance on
trombone.
Besides having played in many instrumental ensembles such as band, orchestra, brass quintet, trombone quartet, and stage band, Barb has sung in choirs ranging from 16-voice Chamber Singers to 200-voice concert choirs and has led church and community choirs. As an active participant in local music endeavours, Barb plays piano or keyboard with the worship team at church, accompanies vocal and instrumental soloists, and plays for musical theatre productions. She has only recently attempted some composing and arranging of choral selections.
With her husband Henry, who is also a B.Mus. graduate, Barb
lives in a hundred-year-old farmhouse where they have raised two children –
David (23), a tenor who rarely stops singing (married to Rachel who
plays piano and string bass), and Anne (21), a very active athlete who plays
guitar in her free time.
