Evelyn Stroobach, M.A., M.Mus.

 

Evelyn Stroobach is a professional musician and composer with a Master of Music degree from Indiana University.  Her compositions have been performed internationally and been aired on CBC radio; Evelyn has scored for film and won awards for her works.  Presently, she is in the process of producing a compact disc of her compositions entitled Aurora Borealis.  This recording project has been awarded funding through FACTOR (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records) and she is one of two recipients in 2005 of a grant from the Council for the Arts in Ottawa.  Her ultimate goal is to have ten of her compositions professionally performed and recorded onto a CD.  The CD is expected to be released in the fall of 2005.

 

Her works have attracted the attention of and been recorded by some of Ottawa’s leading musicians, including the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and Canada’s Dominion Carillonneur, Gordon Slater.

 

Presently, Ms. Stroobach is serving on the board of directors of the Association of Canadian Women Composers (ACWC).  She is also a member of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), the International Alliance for Women in Music, Guild of Canadian Film Composers, Cultural Human Resource Council, and the American Music Center.

 

As well as composing and producing a CD, Ms. Stroobach also has a number of music students whom she teaches privately.  She teaches piano, virginal, recorder, theory, harmony, composition, and aural perception.  She has helped prepare many of her students for recitals as well as for their Royal Conservatory of Music examinations.

 

Evelyn Stroobach currently lives and works in Ottawa.
