Jane Best

Jane began childhood piano studies in Kingston, Ontario and later moved to Toronto where she participated in the children's choir at St. George's United Church.  She studied at the Conservatory and part-time at the University of Toronto and has participated  in church music for over 30 years.  Since moving to Manitoulin Island 16 years ago, she directed choirs at Lyons Memorial United Church for 6 years, and now is the church musician at All Saints Anglican church.  She recently completed a CD  intended to support worship in small churches where there is no choir.  Jane's personal music site can be visited at:  www.bestsongs.ca

She  also directs a small singing group called Five Alive, runs a recorder club at the local public school, and leads an adult recorder consort in the summer.  Many of her choir pieces have been premiered by the Island Singers, a community choir directed by Dorothy Anstice.  She has 30 music students to keep her busy, and volunteers with her local Girl Guides.
