composer, lyricist, and arranger Joanna
Estelle
has won the critical acclaim of audiences from Ottawa’s
Parliament Hill to London, England and Barcelona, Spain. A longtime member of
the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), she
now also serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Canadian Women
Composers. As a child, she studied classical piano and basic theory with the
Royal Conservatory of Music. Since then, she has pursued studies in modern
piano, advanced theory and arranging with several well-known teachers and has
often performed her own piano pieces. Currently, she is a special student in
the Department of Music, University of Ottawa, studying with Steven Gellman.
Her work has also been arranged and orchestrated for performance and recording
by quality artists and choirs in Canada, the United States, and Europe, as
well as broadcast on CBC.
